Castor - BC 10 km spatially varying intercept – raster and lookup table

This release provides the spatial inputs required to represent the spatially varying intercept used by the lavaf3r system of equations (Lochhead in prep) to generate expected ignition counts at the 10 km × 10 km scale anywhere in the province. These number of ignitions are then used by fireCastor for the prediction of where on the landscape fires are most likely to occur.

The dataset consists of:

  1. A province‑wide 10 km × 10 km pixel ID raster aligned to the Castor provincial grid, and
  2. An associated lookup table that maps pixel IDs to values of the spatially varying intercept.

Together, these inputs define large‑scale spatial variation in baseline ignition rates across British Columbia.

Raster details:

  • Coverage: British Columbia
  • Resolution: 10 km
  • Projection: BC Albers (EPSG:3005)
  • Grid alignment: Castor provincial grid
  • Format: GeoTIFF

Lookup table details:

  • Contains spatially varying intercept values indexed by pixel ID
  • Used to associate each grid cell with its baseline ignition intensity

These inputs are provided as static datasets to avoid recomputing large spatial structures at runtime and to ensure consistent spatial alignment across Castor simulations.
