You can use it to download common datasets (i.e.\nBedMachine, Bedmap2, MODIA MoA), create maps and plots specific to Antarctica\n(soon Greenland and the Arctic as well), and visualize data with multiple\nmethods.\n\nFeel free to use, share, modify, and\n[contribute](https://polartoolkit.readthedocs.io/en/latest/contributing.html) to\nthis project. I've mostly made this for personal usage so expect significant\nchanges. Hopefully, I'll implement more tests and Gallery examples soon.\n\n## Project goals\n\nBelow is a list of some features I hope to eventually include. We show them here in order of\nsimplest to hardest.\n\n### Conda / Mamba\n\nThe easiest way to install this package and it's dependencies is with conda or\nmamba into a new virtual environment:\n\n```\nmamba create --name polartoolkit --yes --force polartoolkit\n```\n\nAnd activate the environment:\n\n```\nconda activate polartoolkit\n```\n\nNote that `conda` and `mamba` are interchangeable.\n\n### Pip\n\nInstead, you can use pip to install `polartoolkit`, but first you need to\ninstall a few dependencies with conda. This is because `PyGMT` `GeoPandas`, and\n`Cartopy` all rely on C packages, which can only be install with conda/mamba and\nnot with pip.\n\nTo create a new virtual environment:\n\n```\nmamba create --name polartoolkit --yes --force pygmt geopandas cartopy\n```\n\nAnd activate the environment, followed by using `pip` to install `polartoolkit`:\n\n```\nmamba activate polartoolkit\npip install polartoolkit\n```\n\nTo install the optional dependencies of `polartoolkit`, use this instead:\n\n```\n`pip install polartoolkit[all]`\n```\n\n### Development version\n\nYou can use pip, with the above created environment, to install the latest\nsource from GitHub:\n\n```\npip install git+https://github.com/mdtanker/polartoolkit.git\n```\n\nOr you can clone the repository and install:\n\n```\ngit clone https://github.com/mdtanker/polartoolkit.git\ncd polartoolkit\npip install .\n```\n\n## How to contribute\n\nI really welcome all forms of contribution!
