USDA‑ARS Adaptive Cropping Systems Laboratory and the University of Washington School of Environmental and Forest Sciences\n\n***\n\n## Overview\n\nMAIZSIM is a mechanistic model of maize growth, development, and yield.  \nThe crop system is written in **C++**, and the soil system is written in **Fortran**.  \nThe crop model is integrated with **2DSOIL**, a two‑dimensional simulator of soil water and heat movement and solute transport.  \n**2DSOIL is the main driver model**, calling the crop model as a subroutine.\n\nThe repository includes two subprojects:\n\n* **Crop Source**\n* **Soil
